The account reveals what David said to his men that allowed him to respond so patiently to a man who was mistreating him unjustly. Was David always this patient? Not in the account with Nabal! Delayed obedience often disguises itself as “not the right time.”
The Jews in Haggai’s day did not oppose rebuilding God’s house. They simply postponed it while other responsibilities took priority. What seemed temporary became sixteen years of neglect.
