The Parable of the Fig Tree: A Warning for the End Times (Luke 21:29-33)

Sunday's sermon turned into a blog post with audio and video:

https://www.scottlapierre.org/parable-of-the-fig-tree/

Are we in the End Times? The Parable of the Fig Tree in Luke 21:29-33 serves as a warning and guide for recognizing the signs of Christ’s Second Coming. Jesus rebuked people in His day for failing to discern His First Coming, and He expects our generation to recognize the signs leading to His return. In this message, Pastor Scott LaPierre explains how this parable is misinterpreted, what generation Jesus referred to, and why His words are more certain than creation itself.

Jesus on Trial: Human Depravity and the Innocent Son of God (Luke 22:63–71)

Few passages expose the darkness of the human heart—and the beauty of Christ’s innocence—like Jesus’ illegal trial before the religious leaders.
He was mocked, blindfolded, beaten, and condemned… all while remaining the sinless Son of God who willingly suffered for our salvation.
This message walks verse-by-verse through Luke 22:63–71 to show:
• the wickedness revealed in human depravity
• the innocence and obedience of Christ
• why Jesus had to suffer this way
• what this means for your walk with God today

Shimei’s False Repentance: How Bitterness Destroys a Heart (2 Samuel 16–19)

Shimei completely misjudged David—and let bitterness poison his heart for decades.

When David was at one of the lowest points of his life, Shimei hurled rocks, curses, and false accusations at him.
But when the tables turned, and David was restored, Shimei said, “I have sinned,” not out of repentance, but out of fear.

This message is a needed warning for all of us:
• Bitterness can distort our judgment
• Pain can tempt us to mistreat people
• Fear can produce confessions that lack true repentance

God calls us to something better: genuine repentance rooted in truth, not fear.
