In Luke 24:27, Jesus began with Moses and all the Prophets and showed the disciples “in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.”
The cross was not the defeat of the Messiah. It was His mission.

In Luke 24:22–27, Jesus showed two discouraged disciples that the Old Testament had been pointing to Him all along.

The disciples on the road to Emmaus were discouraged because they thought Jesus failed to redeem Israel.
But the cross did not disprove redemption.
The cross accomplished redemption.
